Arden Hills
Behind the scenes discussions are occurring on the Arden Hills city council to bring government managed trash collection to the city and eliminating choice for residents.
On June 17, 2024, the Arden Hills city council received advice from the Mounds View city council at their joint meeting concerning that city's attempts to take away citizen choice.
It was at this meeting that Arden Hills city council members revealed that there have been ongoing discussions about this issue amongst the elected officials and city staff.
What Mounds View chose to downplay in their discussion was that 83% of residents stripped their city council of the authority to institute government managed trash collection at a special election held on April 9, 2024. In addition, while that city's mayor continually implies that they have won a lawsuit filed by haulers accusing them of violating the law, the district court on the other hand has scheduled depositions for this fall with a trial to be held spring of 2025. Why that city's mayor seems to know so little of what is going on about this issue is likely because he was too lazy to attend even one of many negotiation sessions haulers had with city officials.
On June 24, 2024, the Arden Hills city council discussed their joint meeting with Mounds View and government managed trash collection was a topic of discussion. We have been informed that the video is on the city's website.
