Garbage Haulers for Citizen Choice (GHCC) became involved in the St. Francis City Council election after statements were made at the October 18th Chamber of Commerce candidate forum.

At this forum, incumbent council member Richard Orpen announced that he wished to take over management of the city's trash system and hire "one" hauler to service the entire city.  This would kick out three or possibly all four of the haulers currently servicing residents depending upon who the council selected.

Prior to GHCC's involvement, the candidates faced off in a primary with the top four moving forward to the general election.  Orpen came in a close third place out of six:

Primary Election results:
Bauer 255
Muehlbauer 168
Orpen 139
Brown 124
Shockman 87
Norenberg 82

The week prior to the general election, GHCC sent information to every St. Francis voter informing them of Orpen's desire to institute government managed trash collection with one hauler.  The mailer directed voters to the Chamber of Commerce candidate forum video where Orpen made his statement.

General Election results:
Bauer 1647
Muehlbauer 1411
Brown 1134
Orpen 832

In the general election, Orpen came in a distant last place.  Orpen lost reelection to the St. Francis City Council.
